Babette and Hillard Weinberg*

Babette and Hillard Weinberg were born and raised in Cincinnati. They married in 1951. Through their 59 years of marriage, community giving was always a part of their life. Hillard was always supportive of Babette’s volunteer and charitable efforts, including an innovative fundraising campaign for the Jewish Welfare Fund urging women to give a penny a day: a simple yet motivating idea that won her “The 1st and Only Million Penny Roundtable Award” in 1976. The plaque still hangs proudly in her den—and she has never stopped giving since then, to various charitable campaigns and organizations.
