Carolyn and Stuart Lowitz

Carolyn and Stuart are both from Hamilton, Ohio, their parents were friends. As Stuart was graduating from University of Miami he met Carolyn in Florida while she was on a family vacation. Carolyn and Stuart have three children and five grandchildren; David and Elicia, their two children Amanda and Alyson; Brandon and Jill and their twin daughters, Hannah, and Sophie; and Jennifer and Jordan and their son Owen.

They made Cincinnati their home in 1965. Stuart has had a life-long career in the car business, both his career and hobby. Carolyn worked in real estate for 25 years before transitioning to work at the Jewish Federation of Cincinnati. They have been members at Wise Temple since 1992. She is very proud of the work she has done in the Jewish community and Cincinnati community, including: Chair of Women’s Philanthropy, Chair of Planning & Allocations, among other divisions, and continues to be a volunteer at Freestore Foodbank, just to name a few.

Through their philanthropy, volunteerism, and love of travel, they hope to inspire their family and friends of the importance of giving through their generosity. They truly encompass what it means to give through time, treasure, and talent.

Leaving a legacy, to us, is the right thing to do. We have been a part of the Cincinnati Jewish community for 58 years, and to be involved, engaged, and a benefit from this community is something we feel should be paid forward, this is our way of making sure that we have done our part for the community.

It is important to us that we share what we have, to help others, and certainly to help other Jews, in Cincinnati and beyond. During my time [Carolyn] at the Federation, it made an impression that people were giving in the community, and we wanted to be a part of that. Being active in the community both through giving and volunteerism is what makes this community so strong, and we want to see that sustained into the future.

My [Carolyn] mother helped establish the blood bank in Hamilton, Ohio, and my father was active in the local synagogue and giving to others. Leaving a legacy is our way of giving back to our parents and to future generations of our family. We raised our children to understand our philanthropy, the value of giving, and how meaningful it is when you give back. Our hope is that our children and grandchildren continue our legacy.
