The Orthodox Jewish Home for the Aged opened its first facility, offering an alternative living option to Glen Manor, for the area’s aging Jewish population accustomed to the more traditional practices of the Orthodox Jewish community.

The Orthodox community had grown in recent years, due to an influx of Eastern European immigrants. This institution existed until the 1997 merger with Glen Manor that created Cedar Village.
