Montessori in Cincinnati
After studying with Dr. Maria Montessori, Hilda Rothschild, a Holocaust survivor, established the first Montessori teacher-training program in the country at Xavier University in 1965. She became known as the mother of the Montessori movement in America. Cincinnati was also the first city in the US to open a public Montessori high school - Clark Montessori High School.
